Morphospecies 1
Found in Lambir (Inoue trail). Probably growing on dead tree roots and hence growing out from ground. Had a moisty surface perhaps because the bowl-shaped surface could trap water. It has a long stem to push it out from the ground, perhaps it helps in spore dispersal.
Morphospecies 2
Found in Lambir (Inoue trail). Growing out parallel from the bottom of a falled tree branch.
Morphospecies 3
Found in Lambir (Inoue trail, Main trail) and Maliau Basin. Growing out from dead tree trunk, could reach moderate size.
Morphospecies 4
Found in Lambir (Inoue trail). Growing out from dead tree trunk, feel wet when touching it.
Morphospecies 5
Found in Lambir (Inoue trail) and Maliau Basin. Usually found growing oon top a dead tree trunk.
Morphospecies 6
Found in Lambir (Main trail). It was growing on top of a fallen tree trunk. Lots of individual arranged neatly on the tree trunk.
Morphospecies 7
Found in Lambir (Main trail). Sands were found trapped by the surface.
Ganoderma sp. 1
Found in Lambir (Main trail) and Pulau Gaya. Inner part of Lambir’s (which was much larger than the picture shown) was found trapping soil that eventually hardened. Usually feel “moisty” when touching it. Surprisingly, P. Gaya’s was found to grow on bottom part of an seemingly alive Terminalia.
Ganoderma sp. 2
Found in Lambir (Main trail) and Maliau Basin. The waxy structure of this fungus was usually wet and shiny.
Morphospecies 10
Found in Pulau Gaya and Maliau Basin. Pulau Gaya’s environment was so dry that the edge of the fungus curled down, while in Maliau Basin, mosses found growing on it as the picture shown.
Morphospecies 11
Found in Pulau Gaya. Was found growing on top on a fallen tree branch. Bracket fungi could rarely be seen in Pulau Gaya but this was an exception.
Morphospecies 12
Found in Pulau Gaya. Lots of this fungus were found growing along the standing dead tree trunk up to 2m. However the dry environment seems to consume the fruit body as many of them were covered by sands and looked “broken”
Morphospecies 13
Found in Mount Kinabalu (Around Park HQ). Unlike many other fungus that has mosses growing on them, these fungi were not covered by mosses probably due to the shape and smooth surface of the fungus. Growing out from a fallen tree trunk in huge amount.
Morphospecies 14
Found in Mount Kinabalu (Around Park HQ). Inability of water trapping made it not covered by mosses. Looked like multiple individual fusing together.
Ganoderma sp. 3
Found in Mount Kinabalu (Around Park HQ). Living in rather dry part of Mount Kinabalu. Uneven surface found to trap sands.
Morphospecies 16
Found in Mount Kinabalu (Around Park HQ). Hairy surface could well trap water and hence could be the reason mosses were found growing on the surface. Found in groups of around 10.
Morphospecies 17
Found growing on a huge tree trunk in Sepilok Rehab Center. It was about 15~18cm. Bracket fungi like this is very long-live.
Morphospecies 18
Found growing on a huge fallen tree trunk in Sepilok Rehab Center. It was located about 3m away from Morphospecies 17 on the same trunk. No other visible fungi were seen between these 2 probably because these 2 fungi had huge territory. About 12cm as seen. Look very much like Morphospecies 1 except without stalk/stem and size.
Morphospecies 19
Found growing on a fallen tree trunk in Maliau Basin (Belian Trail).
Morphospecies 20
Found growing on a dead tree stem in Maliau Basin (Sky Bridge). Distinctive structure and color make it unmistaken.
Morphospecies 21
Found growing on a fallen tree trunk in Maliau Basin (Sky Bridge). Some of them seem to be eaten and some have mosses growing on top.
Morphospecies 22
Found growing on a dead tree trunk in Maliau Basin. Purplish color makes it distinctive, although having a hairy surface, mosses hardly found growing on top.
Morphospecies 23
Found growing on ground in Maliau Basin. Unlike Morphospecies 1, it has a thick stem/stalk rather than a twig-like stalk.
Morphospecies 24
Found growing out from the side of a fallen tree trunk in Maliau Basin.
Morphospecies 25
Found growing out from the side of a fallen tree branch in Maliau Basin.
Morphospecies 26
Found growing out from the side of a fallen tree trunk in Maliau Basin. Seem to have “scaly” surface. Interestingly, a pair of “antennae” was found at bottom of the fungus as the picture shown. It was probably a slug/snail.
Morphospecies 27
Found growing in bulk from the side and top of a fallen tree trunk in Maliau Basin. The fungus growing bottom was usually larger than those on top.
