Amomum longpedunculis





Description: Vegetative stalks small (less than 3 feet) with long petiole, short ligule, and no pulvinus. Cream-colored tubular flowers are held in a lily-shaped inflorescence and their bases are encircled by short cream-colored bracts. The inflorescence is borne on a distinctively long stalk (the source of the species name) emerging near the base from the rhizome.


Distribution: Mt. Kinabalu lowland forest


Ecology/Habitat: This species is relatively rare in Borneo, but it is found in the lowland forest (elevation approximately 1800 meters) on Mt. Kinabalu in somewhat shaded canopy.
