Description: Plant tall (above 5 feet) with long ligules and petioles. Flowers emerge on a long basal peduncle and lie close to the ground. Has Etlingera flower shape, with long greenish-white bracts subtending the base of the inflorescence and smaller bracts around the orange-yellow, tubular flowers. However, the inflorescence was too immature to definitively classify the species as an Etlingera.
