Description: Cone-shaped inflorescence on basal stalk and pulvinus characteristic of the genus. Ligule very short, ending near the leaf base, and cleft. No petiole. Leaf underside is dark reddish-purple, and leaf sheathing is outlined in red, especially in new growth.

Ecology/Habitat: Planted in the Sepilok Rainforest Discovery Center Botanical Gardens. Natural habitat preferences unknown.
