Description: Vegetatively distinctive, with very long petioles and long, reddish ligules (coloration especially prominent in new growth). Leaf undersides and margins hairy. Flowers terminal on vegetative stalk, but with leaf sheathing extending several inches beyond the start of the inflorescence, and arranged in a lax inflorescence. Short peduncles hold only one flower. Flowers white with red lip. Fruits round and red.
