Description: Leafy shoots very tall (about 9 feet) with long ligules and petioles. Flower location is terminal on basal stalk. Flower shape places the species within the genus Etlingera, with long, tightly spaced lower bracts ringing the entire inflorescence and small upper bracts encircling each tubular pink flower. Bracts are light pink (as distinct from species 27, Etlingera eliator) and open.
