Description: Vegetatively unremarkable, with petiole long, ligule short and cleft (resembling an “m”). Leaf sheathing is a dull brown, which distinguishes it from the green stem. Flowers observed at an early stage of development, so they could not be distinguished between an Amomum or Etlingera type of flower shape. However, they appear to be white and tubular and occur on a long basal stalk, subtended by a ring of long, green, open bracts.
Distribution: Mt. Kinabalu lower montane forest
Ecology/Habitat: Grows in the lower montane forest in a relatively shaded canopy.
