Extra meeting features
- We will offer a Mentorship program, where senior attendees, volunteering at registration time, will be paired (by interest) with young local and international researchers. The pair will be introduced, via email, prior to the meeting, and will be asked to meet for at least one hour during the course of the conference. This process has the potential to offer life-changing impacts to both mentee and mentor.
- We plan to offer a comprehensive Virtual meeting service in parallel to the physical meeting. As scientists decide to travel less because of the carbon cost, so the need for virtual meetings increases. We will offer i) streaming audio to registered virtual attendees, with relevant visual material, ii) the chance for virtual attendees to ask questions via instant messaging, and iii) physical symposium sessions where virtual attendees can post videos of their presentations.

Indonesian Immigration
You are responsible for obtaining travel permission to enter Indonesia. We can help you with an invitation letter, and (for certain counties only) with authorization at the Department of Foreign Affairs. Please check with your local Indonesian embassy or consulate, as soon as possible. The following information is an overview only, and may not be current or applicable at the time of your visa application. Again, you are responsible for obtaining travel permission to enter Indonesia.
- Nationals of some countries may be able to visit Indonesia for `purposes of holiday, exhibition, tourism, business, and social-culture,’ without a visa, for up to 30 days.
- Nationals of many countries (including most North American, European, Arab, East Asian countries and Australia, NZ, South Africa, India) may be able to visit Indonesia for `visits of tourism, social culture and business natures,’ for 30 days by obtaining a visa on arrival (VOA), i.e., you can just arrive in Indonesia with no preparation other than a valid passport. This visa may now be extended in Indonesia for a second month. Most international participants of ATBC 2010 will fall in this class. See here for further information if entering Indonesia via Bali. VOAs are governed by `Keputusan Menteri Kehakiman dan Hak Asasi Manusia RI nomor : M-04.IZ.01.10 tahun 2003 (amended in 2007 to add extra countries) tentang Visa Kunjungan Saat Kedatangan; see Pasal 1.1.
- If you are not covered by these two classes, or you are in doubt, or want to stay for over 30 days, please apply for a Business visa beforehand at your nearest Indonesian embassy/consulate. We can provide letters of invitation: please indicate this need on your registration form.
- Nationals of some countries require pre-approval from the the Department of Foreign Affairs in Indonesia. Note that you will need plenty of time to apply for a visa in this case. Please contact us soon if you are from one of these countries.
- Useful site for checking your visa needs is VisaHQ. For more than you ever wanted to know, see Living in Indonesia.
